Colin + Kathleen Wedding

LOVE BREWED IN A MAGICAL RED BARN!

Do you know what’s better than photographing an amazingly awesome couple? Photographing an amazingly awesome couple who also happen to be your actual friends. We immediately hit it off with Colin and Kathleen when we met for the first time. We talked about a lot of stuff and just lost track of time. Fast forward to the Sunday after our meeting, and I ran into them after church service… They had come to visit us. I knew immediately that we were off to a great start.

The interesting story of Colin and Kathleen is that they lived about 30 minutes from each other in Defiance, and yet the first time they actually met and kicked off their love story was when they were on a missions trip in Pennsylvania…believe it or not. These two are by far one of the best couples I’ve ever met. You don’t have to spend more than a minute around them to catch the intense love between them. They’re one of those couples that will constantly make you miss your wife…even when she’s right next to you. Lol

Colin and Kathleen’s wedding was one of the most fun, crazy, and emotional events we’ve ever been a part of. There were jokes, laughter, and a lot of tears. For their first look, we had all the family members hide behind tall glass window to watch the whole thing. Kathleen made her way out to the patio from her dressing room. She was excited, anxious, and very emotional to meet Colin, who was basically an emotional mess. This was the one day he had waited for his entire life.

As Kathleen walked up the stairs, you could tell emotions were going through the roof with everyone. She quietly came up behind Colin and just stood there. We told Colin to wait a little longer before he could turn around to see his bride. The anticipation was killing him, but he knew his bride-to-be was ravaging the sight of his “cute booty,” as Kathleen affectionately called it lol. He finally turned around to see his bride, and for the next few minutes, was quite literally speechless. She looked straight into his tear-filled eyes, and he looked right back into hers, and it was at that moment that the everything else fell into oblivion for the two of them. It was just the two of them. Nothing else mattered. They hugged, kissed, cried, laughed, and exchanged some beautiful words to each other. I couldn’t help but wipe a tear from my eyes.
The wedding day was so magical… That wedding dress…OMG!!! And the food!!!!! There were a lot of dirty “that’s what she said” jokes, and lot of wife-butt-slapping moments going on… signs of an awesome love-filled wedding. I had a great feeling about the wedding day when we were getting ready to leave for the wedding, and these two definitely made sure I wasn’t dissapointed.

Colin: “I think amidst the feelings of getting ready to marry my best friend, I was thinking of  the large list of things that needed to be executed so that she wouldn’t need to be bothered or stressed by any of it.”

Kathleen: “The whole day felt like a fairytale, and I kept asking myself, ‘Is this really happening?”
